3rd Annual Spiritual Adoption: Sept. 2009 to June 2010

Our parish’s Respect Life Ministry invites you to join in this year’s Spiritual Adoption.

Offer this prayer daily for a baby forming in the womb of an unknown mother and for an end to abortion: Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much; I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted, who is in danger of abortion.

During your earthly life, this child which you have adopted will be known only to God, but in the hereafter, you will enjoy each other’s company for all eternity.

Developmental Update—Your spiritually adopted baby at 38 weeks

Over the last few weeks, growth continues to be rapid – 2 inches and 2 1/2 pounds being added in a short period of time. Around this time, the child triggers labor and birth occurs. The average baby is about 19 to 21 inches long and weighs more than 6 pounds.

You are cordially invited to celebrate the birth of our spiritually adopted babies!

When:     Sunday, June 6 (after the 10 a.m. & noon Masses)

Where:    Msgr. Hubertus Hall

Who:      Anyone & everyone who likes to eat cake & celebrate life

Why:      To remind people of the sanctity of life!

Please bring an item to donate, such as diapers (all sizes), clothing (newborn-4T), wipes, pacifiers, bottles, sippy cups, bibs, and blankets. All donated items will go to the Allied Women's Center, a crisis pregnancy center in San Antonio.

Respect Life Ministry News

• Free stuff! Next weekend, May 29 & 30, the St. Anthony Mary Claret Respect Life Ministry will have its information table available in the narthex. Stop by for free brochures, bumper stickers and precious feet pins.

• Donation station! In addition to monetary donations, the parish’s Gabriel Project, a crisis pregnancy ministry, is accepting donations of the following items for babies and their moms:

• diapers, wipes, formula, etc.

• toiletries, hotel shampoos, lotions, etc., prayer cards and small prayer booklets, holy medals, small frames & photo albums

Sorry, we cannot accept donations of used car seats.

• It’s not too late! You can still purchase an engraved brick in honor of your deceased loved one(s) for placement in our parish's memorial garden. Just use the form in next week’s order bulletin or pick one up in the narthex. Proceeds benefit the St. Anthony Mary Claret Respect Life Ministry and Gabriel Project.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

"High Seas Expedition, Exploring the Mighty Love of God"

June 21- 25, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Children of our parish who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade will go on a vast voyage through God’s Word as they participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, dig into yummy treats, experience electrifying Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them of God’s Word, and enjoy creating Bible Point crafts. Plus, kids will learn to look for evidence of God all around them through something called God Sightings. Each day concludes at The Floating Finale—a celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned. Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 11:40 and for the special VBS Mass, Friday, June 25 at 8 a.m. followed by a breakfast picnic. Session 1: 9 – 9:30 a.m. Music for the Very Young – ages 3-4-5

Session 2: 9:30 –10 a.m. Elements of Music I (Ward I ) – ages 5-6-7-8

Break: 10 –10:15 a.m.

Session 3: 10:15 – 10:45 a.m. Elements of Music II (Ward II) - ages 8-15

Session 4: 10:45 – 11:15 a.m. Conductor’s Workshop – ages 8-15

Session 5: 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. Cantor’s Workshop – ages 8-15

Lunch: 11:45 – 12:45 p.m. Students should bring a bag lunch.

Session 6: 12:45 – 1:30 p.m. Church Choir – ages 5-15
